Introduction to Intensive Outpatient Programs

You’ve decided to get free of your addiction, but you might not know where to begin. As you start to research the options, you may feel overwhelmed by the choices available, and that’s to be expected. Should you go to an inpatient program, a partial hospitalization program, an intensive outpatient program, a traditional outpatient program, or some combination of programs? Friends and family may have lots of opinions on what kind of treatment program you attend, but your best bet is to explore the options and then let the professionals partner with you to create a plan. Treatment levels range from residential to traditional outpatient, with a few levels in between. Intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) are outpatient programs with more structure than traditional outpatient programs. Attending an IOP Program in Georgia enables you to attend treatment while being present for your family and continuing to work if needed.

Outpatient treatment programs can differ significantly between facilities, so it’s essential to understand what’s offered. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Georgia provides you more intense therapy than traditional outpatient counseling. It is an excellent option for those unable to attend residential or partial hospitalization programs (PHP). Once you complete our Intensive Outpatient Program in Atlanta, you may attend our traditional outpatient counseling for additional support beyond your IOP. At our outpatient rehab in Georgia, we meet you where you are and partner with you to match you with the best treatment option. We understand addiction and we know how to help you pave your road out.

What's the Difference Between IOP and Outpatient?

Whereas traditional outpatient programs focused more on providing information, intensive outpatient programs have a more diverse level of programming and a higher level of structure. Intensive outpatient programs are more interactive and offer a more intense level of therapy than traditional outpatient programs. Our Atlanta intensive outpatient program provides a high level of support mixed with flexibility. Traditional outpatient programs offer a standardized approach with a programming preset for all, while intensive outpatient programs can be customized to meet your needs. Intensive outpatient programs are as effective as partial hospitalization programs and residential inpatient programs. Imagine being able to get treatment for your addiction while remaining available to your loved ones. Attendance at our intensive outpatient in Atlanta offers you the opportunity to do just that while also enabling you to stay in school or keep a job. Not only can your life continue, but you can bring the issues that arise with you so that you work through them rather than letting them build.

The Benefits of Our IOP in Georgia

Wherever your addiction took you, you can pave the road out by attending our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Atlanta, GA. Our experienced and compassionate clinicians will partner with you and advocate for you to create a treatment plan that meets you where you are. Together you’ll build your road map out of addiction and into a lifetime of recovery. We know that addiction damages the mind, body, and spirit, and our program treats all three. Our time together will be less than that of our Partial Hospitalization Program or an inpatient program, but we will still address all three. Leaving out any of them does not allow you to heal. Remember that you’re giving yourself this time in treatment is an act of self-love. Attending our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is not something you have to do; it is something you get to do to create a new life for yourself. You’ve lived in the pain of addiction for too long and it’s time to get on the road to recovery. Your attending treatment is a gift to yourself and your family. This is especially true if you, like so many others, come from a long line of addicts or alcoholics. Your sobriety will ripple across the generations.

Bringing your physical health back into balance will be one focal point of your time in our Atlanta Intensive Outpatient Program. Through better nutrition, movement, and self-care, we will help you heal and reconnect with your body. While you’re healing the body, you’ll also be learning how to take a more mindful approach to life. You’ll learn about tools like movement, yoga, sound therapy, and meditation. We want you to walk away from treatment with a toolbox that you can turn to long into the future.

Our Intensive Outpatient also has an important therapy component. We offer a wide range of treatment modalities, and your treatment plan might include Adventure-Based Counseling, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Recovery, and/or Trauma-Informed Interventions. We will introduce you to peer recovery groups such as 12-step programs. These interventions and therapies will take place within a community of others paving their road to recovery. We know how lonely active addiction is, and we know the importance of connection.

We know that our IOP program in Georgia can help you build long-term sobriety. We hope that you can see that too. While we know that inpatient rehab does have benefits, we believe that it can also create stress when it’s time to re-enter your life. By attending our Atlanta IOP, you can participate in your life while you attend treatment. You will work on healing while fulfilling your obligations. Your family will need to heal from the pain your addiction has caused, and we’re here to help them too. Rather than going away, you’ll stay and be present for your partner and your children. They’ll get to see your progress and see that you are getting well right before their eyes. Things will go wrong, and life will happen, but we will be here to help get you through it without using. Being in recovery and staying sober involves facing your problems and finding solutions. You might not know how to do that at first but by attending our Intensive Outpatient Program, you learn how to work through issues as they are happening.
